Deepen

Acquire ends when a teacher can produce usable material for their own week. Deepen ends when a teacher has rebuilt a unit, run it with real students, changed it on the basis of what those students actually did, and packaged it so a colleague who was not in the room can run it.

Duration

21 hours. Seven sessions of three hours.

Cadence

Weekly only, seven weeks. The six weeks of classroom time between session one and session seven are structural, not incidental.

Delivery

In school, that school’s teachers only. Cohorts are never mixed across schools.

Cohort size

Minimum 20, maximum 25.

Composition

At least three departments and two grade bands, so the session-seven handoff has somewhere to go.

Entry

Assessment composite, treated as provisional, confirmed by a scored practical task in session one.

Roster condition

Each participant must be teaching a suitable unit during weeks two through six.

Language

Mixed-track cohort. Every artifact produced in the teacher’s own language of instruction.

Exit

Acceptance of the final submission. Certificate of completion, and the sole gate to Create.

The placement confirmation task

Fifty minutes inside session one, closed book. The teacher receives a unit design carrying embedded faults: an assessment that does not measure the stated objectives, a missing prerequisite, task demand mismatched to the grade band, an activity that collapses at thirty students, and a generated component with a factual error. They produce a repaired version with every repair annotated.

Scored on the artifact only. Structural criteria are scored by the facilitator across all language tracks; linguistic and factual accuracy are scored by same-language check.

The seven sessions

• 1. The unit you will rebuild. The design layer of a real unit the teacher will teach during the next six weeks, plus the plan for the evidence its success will be judged on.
• 2. Materials as a system. The full material set for the unit, plus the generation system that can rebuild it for a different topic.
• 3. Assessment that holds up. The unit assessment, and the check that it measures what the design claims.
• 4. Marking and feedback at scale. The marking system, and the first evidence coming back from the classroom.
• 5. Access built in, not bolted on. The unit's access design, sitting in the design layer rather than added afterward as variants.
• 6. What the evidence says. The revised unit, changed only where the evidence justifies it.
• 7. Handing it on. The unit packaged for another teacher, tested by handing it to one.

Certification

One submission, scored accepted or not accepted: the packaged unit, the evidence set and the revision record. One resubmission inside three weeks, then non-completion is recorded. Interim artifacts are scored between sessions for feedback, not for certification.
